This free standing clock is full fused and draped over
Kaiser Lee Board (KLB) in ONE firing.
You need:
- one 12" x 12" x 1" KLB kiln shelf,
- two pieces of 1" x 3" x 12" KLB carved on
the sides
- two pieces 1" x 1.5" x 12" for the top (the
pictures shows only one piece, which could be
critical in a full fuse firing
- one 10" x 10" red iridescent glass and some
decorative glass
- one 3" x 5" white opalescent glass
(all glass in the same COE)
- one 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" shelf paper
1. Set up the KLB pieces on a KLB kiln shelf
2. Place your white glass on the upper part of the center piece this glass will hide the clock work. To avoid a rough backing place a piece of shelf paper under the white glass.
3. Cut your red glass to a shape you like and decorate it. We like to decorate vertical with longer pieces, since we are full fusing and draping in one firing we don't want to take the risk of smaller pieces falling off the base glass.
Note: The iridescent side will not stick to KLB therefore place irid side down against the board.
4. Our firing schedule
- go up 10 F/min to 1000 F hold for 10 min.
- go a.f.a.p. to 1450 F hold for 10 min.
- go down a.f.a.p. to 960 F hold for 45 min
- go down to room temp on its own
